Ascending Angels Inc.’s mission is to enable individuals to transition with dignity. It is our core belief that every individual deserves a final resting place. This final resting garden will provide peace and will strive to be affordable for all.

Our Story

In my 20 plus years working with the disabled, I have been extremely blessed to be a part of the lives of hundreds of individuals. These precious people have become part of my family. Some of them have little, if any, family involvement. Every day I strive to be there to fill that void.
Through the years, I have lost several clients that, unfortunately, did not have family present before or after they passed. In many of these cases, I assisted with funerals and burials, due to the heartbreaking realization that family would not be present and they would be buried alone. Some of these individuals had little to no financial means and therefore no funeral or funeral arrangements. What happens to these individuals you might ask? Sadly, their ashes may sit in a drawer, or in the morgue on a shelf, and in most cases, unclaimed. This heart-breaking pattern was and is unacceptable to me. I started researching other options to help these individuals find peace. To my surprise, nothing acceptable was available at an affordable price. In 2019, I met with a local cemetery in hopes of finding dignified alternatives. |
At the time, a local cemetery did not have any reasonably priced options which further motivated me to continue researching and exploring all possibilities. I continued to pray, discuss, plan, and dream.
From that, Ascending Angels, Inc. was born. In January of 2020, we became an official nonprofit! Transitioning with dignity is our core belief and that every individual deserves a final resting place. This final resting garden will provide this place of peace. The Ascending Angels garden is slated to start on the grounds of a local cemetery in Indiana. When completed, it will have the capacity to provide a final resting place to approximately 2,000 individuals from all over Indiana. Our beneficiaries will include people with disabilities, individuals that have experienced homelessness, Veterans, babies, and others in need of the services that Ascending Angels can provide. ** Ascending Angels President/CEO Karen Spangler-Berfield. ** |
